With over 20 years' experience training all ages to dance at various schools, I work with my clients who have a really wide range of training needs and fears. I trained with Health and Fitness Education not only to become a Personal Trainer but to become an Exercise Referral Specialist and I'm currently training to be a Level 4 specialist in Low Back Pain which is a complaint I hear from nearly everyone I work with. I know the risk of getting low back pain at some point is almost universal with factors such as stressful jobs, driving and manual work cutting straight through lifestyle and class differences. I've suffered with chronic low back pain myself and I have used resistance training to get to where I am today. 

I'm also a former RAF Intelligence Officer of 9 years and veteran, having served overseas on 5 occasions, two of which included Operation HERRICK in Afghanistan. It's incredibly important to be fit for these types of operations to take all the stresses that life there can bring. The impacts aren't only physically arduous but it's also mentally challenging to be away from family and friends and  to be dropped into a location where you're not always welcome. Physical training can also help with personal resilience. 

More recently I've begun to enjoy the broader aspects of training and bring those to my classes. In particular these include teamwork - creating a supportive atmosphere where everyone has something to offer; and coordination - that link between what the mind wants you to do and what your body actually does! When all of these things come together, life is great! And this is the message I want to share. 

It's not all about getting 'beefed up' and lifting really heavy weights (although that is fun and can make you feel powerful and strong), but it's about feeling good about yourself and improving your life through exercise.
